About

Hi.

I'm Jeremy, an engineering manager, front-end developer, husband, and dad living in Chicago, Illinois.

I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, a boy scout who was on the football team, in the school play, competed in Science Olympiad, and spent his lunches in the art room with his friends. Deciding between graphic design or biology I figured I could always pursue art as a hobby so I chose to attend the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Upon hearing all the art classes were filled during my freshman orientation, it was suggested I take an intro to programming class until a spot opened up. It was there I learned I had a nack for programing and I quickly switched my major.

After wanting to live in the Windy City since I visited as a child, I moved to Chicago right after graduating in 2006. Since then I've worked in a variety of industries, from newspapers to consulting to finance, constantly challenging myself to work outside of my comfort zone and continuously learn new things.

It's at work that I met my now wife, Shaila. We bonded over our many shared loves including (but not limited to) escape rooms, board games, LEGO, D&D, and travel. At our wedding we had puzzles hidden in the invitations and programs, a D20 wedding cake, and made our entrance carrying our lightsabers.

As long as I can remember I've always liked liking things and it's not a part of my personality that has tempered with age. I'm a firm believer that the joy in life must be sought out and devoured in big, heaping, spoonfuls.

As my wife is fond of saying, I "collect collections", be it tiki mugs, vinyl records, board games, dice, LEGO, enamel pins, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or all things Superman, Star Wars and Wolverine. I'm always finding new things to love and new ways to display them.

My wife and I recently had a daughter, ushering in the next step of our lives together. I can't wait for all of the new experiences being a father will introduce me to and I can't wait to learn the things she likes, and add her passions to our own.
